Unexpected Architectural or Systems Problems
As we’ve seen throughout this book there is a high potential, especially in older homes or houses with a history of numerous remodeling jobs, for unexpected construction problems. Keep in mind that your contractor is experienced with these things and expects to run into a few things not foreseen. The solutions are not unusual in 95% of the situations you will run into. Generally it just means a little extra work, the occasional adjustment to plans and a little of that extra money we hope you kept in reserve just in case. Buildings and their systems are changeable to a great degree and your contractors have undoubtedly dealt with worse problems than yours. When faced with an unexpected problem, don’t seek to blame someone, look for options to resolve it.
