Kitchen Materials: Fabric
Fabrics are an important part of the material world although in most kitchens they are kept away from work areas because of staining and fire considerations. However upholstery, window treatments and carpeting all contribute significantly to the overall look of many kitchens and should be in your design palette. You can use the colors in a favorite fabric as a guide in choosing an overall color scheme by ‘pulling out’ certain colors and using them for paint and other color choices.
When designing your kitchen palette, don’t forget the functional fabrics like towels, napkins, placemats and area rugs. They all offer opportunities to add color and texture to your design.
