Electricians
In many areas electricians are union members who have gone through a long and complex apprenticeship before winning their license. This license is important because in many areas you cannot have electrical work done by unlicensed workers for safety reasons. Electrical wiring is complex, especially with the large numbers of high powered appliances and potential contact with water in a kitchen. Electrical codes are very specific about how to do almost every aspect of the job and they change often enough that only a working pro can keep up.
Electricians are on the job at the start to disconnect old work before demolition, to run new circuits after rough framing and to finish their work after the walls and ceilings are closed in. Usually the electrical rough-in requires inspection and approval before the walls go up and at the end of the job before permits are approved and signed off on by authorities. The electrician usually handles this although practice may vary in your area. Find out before they start.
