Even with today’s wireless systems you’ll need access to phone lines, a place to locate control panels and hard wired ceiling boxes for detectors that also include a backup DC power wire. Hard-wired means that the detector is powered by normal household electricity rather than batteries and is wired into the system like a ceiling light.
